Ban plastic wet wipes!

Ban plastic wet wipes!

Ban wet wipes that contain/are made with plastic.

Why is this important?

Wet wipes can look like paper, but are often plastic. And as they essentially masquerade as paper, people treat them as such and end up flushing them down the toilet and discarding them in the bush.
Wrongly flushed plastic wet wipes can block sewage systems or end up in the ocean.
Once in the environment, plastic wet wipes are a hazard for wildlife. Once they do start to break down, the resultant micro plastics can even enter the food chain.
Plastic wet wipes need to be banned and replaced with a 100% biodegradable product.

Reasons for signing

  • It's because I'm really worried about this beautiful planet
  • More needs to be done to phase out unnecessary plastic use.
  • Beacuse change the plastic wrapping on the wet wipes to compostable plastic like compostable bags Jacinda Adern. Then it will me that it can compost in the ocean and not break down for a million years.Beacuse it stays in our ocean.
