End Plastic Wraps on NZQA Exams

I want NZQA to stop their use of plastic wraps on end of year exams and to instead switch to environmentally friendly alternatives, whether this be recyclable paper bags, reusable ziplock bags or no bags at all. NZQA needs to educate Kiwi students on sustainability to ensure future generations can enjoy the beautiful environment we do now.

Why is this important?

NZQA distributes thousands of exams each year and each is wrapped in plastic. This plastic is biodegradable according to NZQA, however research shows that biodegradable plastic can not break down without UV rays and high temperatures. Most, if not all, of this plastic will end up buried in landfill, killing our sea life or marring our parks. We should be teaching the younger generation the importance of sustainability and being conscious of the environment, and when their education provider does not adhere to these values, it does not bode well for the future of this planet. Sign this petition to show your support of the environment and to urge NZQA to switch to recyclable paper envelopes or reusable zip lock bags. Together we can make a change!

We've hit 5000 signatures people!!! Thank you to everyone who has signed, supported and shared this petition so far, and if you haven't please do!! Almost daily now, there are frightening reports on the impact of plastic on the planet and our education provider of all organisations should be educating us on the importance of living single-use plastic free. Keep agitating for change and I will do my best to make sure that this petition doesn't just sit there, that all of your signatures mean something and hold weight at a policy level!! It's OUR future, so let's fight for it!
