Reinstate Helen Kelly's eligibility for NZer of the year

Sadly, on the 14th of October, Helen Kelly passed away. Two weeks prior she received the most votes for NZer of the year 2017. Voting closed September the 30th. She was the front runner and has now been removed from the running. Organiser Glyn Taylor says rules are rules. Imagine if that's the attitude Helen Kelly had.

She was voted NZer of the year by New Zealanders. Don't ignore us. Sign and share!

Why is this important?

This is important as Helen kelly had dedicated her life to NZers from teaching in Johnsonville, Wellington to advocating for the Pike River Mine workers.

Reasons for signing

  • She lived a fighter and she died being a fighter, now let's fight for her!
  • Helen Kelly should be deemed the Kiwibank NZer of the Year award regardless of the fact that she has sadly passed away. Personally I think it is disgusting that she has now been deemed ineligible and I believe that her family should be able to accept this award on her behalf. Here or not, if she received the most votes, the award should still be given in her name!
  • She had the votes. Helen is the clear winner
