Stop Child Labour
Our sole target is to encourage Nestle, and other popular chocolate brands to use fair trade cocoa in all products such as KitKat. After extensive research, we have noticed that Nestle does not have the Fair Trade mark in their existing products. We strongly urge Nestle to develop their products in order to meet up to the fair trade standards, and eliminate any forms of child labour used to farm cocoa.
Why is this important?
According to The World Counts statistics, there are more than 200 million children involved in the child labour industry, where they are exposed to violence and psychologically traumatic environments. Seventy-three million of these children, are under the age of 10.
We are a group of passionate year 13 students from the North Shore, who are taking a stand against child labour.
We strongly believe that all children have the right to education, and to not be exposed to dangerous work conditions especially in the cocoa farming industry. As a fundamental consumer, we should have the right to know where the cocoa is sourced in products such as KitKat. This recommendation will ensure companies to clearly develop their products in order to meet the required standards and gain the Fair Trade mark, making sure that all children are free, safe and happy.
