A leading cause of climate change is the agriculture industry and most specifically cow agriculture. The Dairy Industry's action plan to reduce their emissions sounds good, but it does lack a serious commitment. The best way to reduce their emissions is to reduce the amount of cows used on the farms. The dairy industry needs to be held accountable for the emissions that are released by being apart of the Emissions Trading Scheme and by making a stronger commitment to the environment.
Why is this important?
This is important because it will reduce emissions that New Zealand has set in place in the Paris Agreement and will overall create healthier rivers, reduce the carbon and methane emissions, and will force responsibility on the Dairy Industry.
